Agriculture and food sector, which once constituted the fundamental part of Nigeria's strategies for development in the 1960s, soon lost its significance following the development of the oil sector. This has contributed to the present economic problems, especially food insecurity.
This is of great concern to us. In spite of its looming threat to our day-to-day survival and the need for information and capacity building, which are vital weapons of empowerment in strategies for change, poverty and food shortages remain man's greatest enemies.
We believe that the most effective way of tackling poverty and food insecurity is to disseminate vital technical information and capacity building on the subject to policy makers, the organized private sector, the agric business investors, young generation of successor farmers and the general farming public. Sustainable food security is not a United Nation's invention by our own understanding. It is a divine agenda for man. Hunger is therefore a violation of God's order and so must be resisted.
